Im reworking a sako 75 300 RUM into a 338 LM. My question is can I use the same bolt or work it to fit? there is about 0.024 difference in the size of the case rim. Mike
Have you looked at the tenon on a Sako 75, it's threaded 1"x 16 if I remember correctly, this leaves you with a chamber wall thickness of .153. Guys were wary of a Rem 700 chambered in lapua and it's a 1.065 x 18 tenon. The bolts appear to be chromed so it may be difficult to open up the boltface.
Also I would add that Savage bumped up their tenon diameter to accommodate the lapua and the short mags if I remember correctly, and they were using a 1.055 x 20TPI
I have not yet looked at the tenon, The rifle started as a factory 300RUM,I was just a little concerned about the bolt face but I'll be checking that also. Thankyou. Mike
