Hi guys I have a Sako 6.5 creedmore and Im looking to change the stock to a Mcmillan , mesa altitude , manners whatever will work. Most of the companies I have reached out to are unsure if they can work with the Sako. I guess the big question from them is how similar the bottom metal is to a Tikka and can I change to a tikka bottom metal if need be? This is the first Sako I've owned and really don't know much about it. I want to start building the rifle for long range but kinda running into some road blocks. Only research I've gotten on the Finnish rifle is how good they shoot but customizing I am not getting much info. Thanks For any info Shawn

What model? A7? I had an A7 for a while, great gun but lacking options. The options I found were McMillan, GRS, B&C and Boyds for it. The TRG's have several options.

I ditched it, original firing pin snapped and getting a replacement was absolute hell. That and I really would rather have either a floor-late or be able to use aftermarket mags. I could not find a replacement bottom metal for it and was stuck with the factory 3rd mags. I think a 75 floorplate or bottom metal would work, the stock would need to be inletted for it to work. The 75 and A7 are similar, same firing pins, etc, but also have the similar dimensions, action screws are same dimensions and distance apart, however those parts are almost the same price as a new rifle. Tikka bottom metals won't work, the A7 has a short and long action configuration.

With that said, I think the McMillan only has a few inlets for it, the Gamescout, HTG, and a few others will work for it. The rough tech range rifles have the BC stock standard as far as I know, they only offer the m40 in an a7 inlet. Very nice rifle just unsupported. The GRS laminated stocks are supposed to be GTG but the polymer ones I've heard have flexing issues, hopefully someone else can chime in.

Here is the list of compatible stocks I got from McMillan when I was looking into it:

As for aftermarket mags, you would have to find a narrow single stack mag that you can put a lug onto, Atlasworx makes a nice metal replacement floor plate.
