Mark, how do I read this in terms of length, diameter, and thread pitch?

FB 4.5mm is the diameter 0.6 is the thread pitch I will get you the length. If you are in a bind advise and I will send what you need until you can locate. I took off the Sako base that came with the 260 and installed a Near so have the screw's.

Re: Sako TRG-22 Receiver Rail Mounting Screw Size?

Thanks for the offer Mark, that is very kind of you. What I want to do is use some Talley Lightweights in 30mm for the Tikka M595/T3 that I have as an interim until I get my factory 3 ring mount. The 0.860" hole spacing is standard on the TRG receiver and the Talleys will screw right on if I can find the right screws. The #6 screws that come with the Talleys are perfect except for the thread pitch.

I can sure lend you the screws until the factory 3 ring arrives. Just shoot me a PM if you want to go that way, I can get them out tomorrow.

Re: Sako TRG-22 Receiver Rail Mounting Screw Size?

I appreciate the offer Mark, but I should be able to find some locally hopefully. Also, I doubt the screw head diameter of your factory Picatinny base screws would fit into the countersunk holes of the Talleys. If you get the chance and have some calipers handy it would be nice to know the screw head diameter and length of the ones you have.

BTW, were they a bear to get out and are they slotted? I suppose you needed some heat to do it.

Re: Sako TRG-22 Receiver Rail Mounting Screw Size?

sako uses some sort of clear looking lock-tite stuff on their screws. it is about impossible to get them out without heat. heat them up and they come out fairly easy though.

Here you go Fb, the screws from Sako factory are bugle head counter sunk type. 0.208" width of head at top, .085" from top of head to where threads start, 0.237" OAL. Anything else advise. Yes the screw's were slotted and took heat but no big deal. If you did not use heat it would be a big deal indeed.

Re: Sako TRG-22 Receiver Rail Mounting Screw Size?

Thanks Mark. I had EO remove the rail before they delievered the rifle. I substituted the rail for a factory 3 ring mount but they sent the wrong height, hence my dilema. The correct mount is on its way and in the interim I was looking at other mounting solutions. I have three different Tikka mounts that will go right on the TRG, the cleanest being the Talley Lightweights. Thanks again for the factory dimensions.

That corresponds to about 0,06" in diameter....

Second thing for sure is you are correct, my bad. Should be 4.5-0.6 will edit.

Re: Sako TRG-22 Receiver Rail Mounting Screw Size?

The actual answer is M3.5 x 0.6mm pitch. I searched all over the Internet and this is the only thread on all of it that even addressed the receiver screws, and M4 or M4.5 is incorrect.

Mine came with small slotted set screws to fill in the receiver holes when not using a picatinny rail. They are 3.5mm diameter. The pitch is 0.6mm. I bought one replacement for the forward-most threaded receiver hole to fill it in. The two other holes in the receiver are not threaded. I believe they're overpressure holes in the event of a case failure.

I don't know why they chose such an oddball screw but they do exist, and they're hard to find.
