Gang,

Does anyone have the data for a Sako TRG-22 with 26" barrel and factory muzzle break and FGMM 168 SMK? I am looking for muzzle velocity on this setup as my chrono is now deceased... Any help would be appreciated!

Re: Sako TRG Muzzle Velocity Question

I have the same rifle with the OEM brake and 26" barrel, but I've never chrono'd Federal 168's. It's probably not helpful, but my 175 SMK handloads with 44.2 grains of Varget set at 2.80" average about 2,690 FPS, 43.8 grains of the same averages 2,666 FPS.

If you can't find anyone who can answer your post, you are welcome to send me a few rounds and I'll chrono them for you.

Re: Sako TRG Muzzle Velocity Question

Went back and pulled my data from when I had my TRG-22. I also had the 26" barrel and OEM brake. My data for Federal 168gr GM was 2609 average. Actually, it never really deviated more than 3-4 FPS from the 4 different times I took it to the range to chonograph the rounds. Meaning, the average for one session might have been 2606, and the next time 2611, and so on. The overall average, however, I came up with was 2609, meaning, for just simplicity's sake, I just used a "feet-per-second" velocity of 2600. Also, when I shot it, it was last Spring, and the temp was always between 65-69 degrees, so keep that in mind. Also, my elevation where I'm at in IL is around 490 feet above sea-level. Hope this helps.
