Gunsmithing Sand blasting question

I need, or want to touch up some duracoat on my surgeon bolt. I was going to strip and sandblast the whole bolt. Is this ok or should I tape and not blast the lugs?

I would tape out the lugs. That will keep the existing smoothe finish on them. Blasting will add texture to the metal.

The lugs & bolt face should definitely be taped/protected. Do not sand blast, but bead blast.

find someone with a soda blaster and try that.Body shop, auto resto shop, etc. I would still cover critical areas but the soda medium will not hurt the metal in any way.
