I went to the range to do a ladder test for my newly finished savage 10p 5r and had surprising results. I'm loading up 175gr Barnes match burners with varget. Started the test with 42gr of powder. Everything was going fine but I couldn't find a sweet spot. As I went up 45.5 gr grouped 5 shots at 1/4 moa. However one of the rounds blew a primer out. I decided to keep going chalking it up to a stretched primer pocket. But my next load of 45.8 blew the primer out and blew the brass out so bad I had to use a cleaning rod to get it out. So my question is shouldn't this be a little light of a load to see this kind of pressure sign. And should I be worried about my accuracy node of 45.5 if I'm seeing such signs so close to that charge weight?
