Just bought the gun yesterday. Seemed like a logical choice since I didn't have any plans to build this gun out with a gunsmith like I am doing with my 300 win mag. I have had excellent experiences with Savage so I was expecting this same with this. I bought a box of HSM Trophy Gold 300 grain Berger Hybrid OTM Tactical (COAL 3.680") to use for the first few rounds before I start reloading. First round seemed to chamber ok, fired the shot, then cycled the bolt. No brass.... Well, the spent cartridge is snuggly up in the chamber. Had to back it out with a cleaning rod. And by backing out, I mean ramming it out. Put one more round in thinking that was simply a fluke. Same thing happened. I can't seem to find any reason this is doing this. Any thoughts before I take it back to the store and have the gunsmith look at it? I can post pictures if requested. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Dirty D. Based on what we are seeing there seems to be an issue with the bolt as well. Just does't look right and it sure seems to be chunking out the base of the brass. I've never seen that happen with any of my rifles. I'm wondering if I should have gone with the other version of their 338 Lapua. Sucks to have to send this in, I don't want to have to wait another 2 months to shoot the gun.
