Just wondering if anyone has information or a review on the new model from Savage. I am currently looking to get into the sport of long range bolt actions and was wondering if this is a good place to start. I have read some good things about the 260 Remington. Or would another model like the 308 Model 10 FCP McMillan be better. Didn't know whether to start with a tried and true 308 or skip that and go directly into the smaller calibers. I already own a couple of 308's, but they are not bolt action, they are M1A (Loaded and Socom). I am open to suggestions, thanks for the responses. Or should I just forget about stock rifles all together and save for a GAP rifle?

you could buy the savage and be happy and have ammo money left and be shooting sooner.. you will no doubt be happy with a GAP, but with the savage you can get it and a lot of ammo shot up before you get up to that level of cost. and the savage will sell if the round count isnt too high. even if it is, just rebarrel yourself.

You've already got a couple of 308's...

Jim See from centershot rifles did a review on one over on longrange hunting.com. Search it over there.

I THINK he punched it AI because the accuracy wasn't competition quality for the stock class he was shooting. Accuracy was still sub MOA.
