Savage Axis

Re: Savage Axis

Because the term "EDGE" when applied in any way to rifle stocks is a registered trademark of the McMillan Fiberglass Stock company. Savage was not aware of this and the change was an amicable, verble and friendly agreement between CEO's.

Re: Savage Axis

And that is what happens when you have 2 first class companies. I have seen way too many companies get into heated battles over the small stuff.

Cudo's to both!!

Re: Savage Axis

I hope to get to handle one of these new rifles to see what it offers over the basic Stevens rifles. Unless it's something really different it seems like Savage is shooting itself in the foot.

Love their rifles though. :)

Re: Savage Axis

I've handled a couple of them, and shot them. they are definately entry level rifles, the savage quality is still there, but you can tell why they only cost 329.00.
The trigger leaves something to be desired, it is not the accutrigger. It is a little creepy and hard for me. I wasn't able to do a real satisfactory test of the rifles capabilities, but I did manage to scatter a few prairie dogs with it(at very modest ranges) My initial impression was it would be a good rifle for a first time shooter, to learn the basics, and the price is right for such. The two that I shot both came with a Bushnell 3-9X40 scope installed (for the 329.00)
