Savage barrel nut - non-standard

Have a Savage 11 Trophy Hunter in 308. It has light weight sport barrel that heats up quickly at the range. Would like to consider replacing it with a heavier barrel. Problem is the barrel nut is completely smooth - no wrench notches like normal Savage barrel nuts. Anyone have similar and have changed barrels? Familiarity w nonstandard Savage barrel nuts and barrel replacement (preferably something other than a pipe wrench)?
Thnx.

This or grab it wit a pipe wrench.
My model 11 originally had a smooth nut, your gonna replace the nut anyway.

Buy a Bighorn rear entry action wrench, it works on Savages and Remingtons too and won’t slip like the clamp on action wrenches can.

Good point. I guess if I’m gonna replace a barrel, who cares abt the nut. Will be my first barrel replacement. Still struggling with barrel replacement vs just buying RPR and just selling the rifle I have now. Cost might be comparable.
