Savage Bmag: how does yours perform and look??

Hey guys I’m new to the group I have a savage bmag and it shoots well most of the time I know this rifle has a bad wrap but I want to hear some of you guys experience with the awesome 17 super mag Savage bmag please feel free to comment and let’s talk!!

I don't shoot groups, just gophers. Love mine for that just hate the darn cock on close and that you can close bolt before it's in battery. Marks up the stock a little. Would love a ruger but don't want to pay for it.

Yeah those rugers are expensive I don’t mind the cock on close as much as a lot of ppl seem to but I do mind the floppy bolt if you u don’t hold it up the whole time while ejection or loading but other than that it’s a good fun mine shoots great groups at 50 and 100 yds and if u get the classic version of the Boyd’s stock you will see that it has a small piece taken out of the laminate so that it will not bang up the stock mine does any way do u have a bull barrel or standard? I will post a photo of notch in stock for bolt in a moment

I’ve shot a few squirrels with it and can head shot them all the time !!

Update I got a repair kit from savage including a new set screw that has a little pin at the end of it that seats in to a groove or notch on the bolt assembly as to where the one in mine was flat and flush at the end of the screw the bolt now stands up right and stays that way although the pin on the set screw looks weak hopefully it will stand the rest of time and use!

Did this fix the problem of being able to close the bolt before in battery? I hate that and the fact if you get in a hurry trying to shoot moving game the accutrigger will misfire because of side load.

It does not unfortunately that is a manufactured flaw that will take some know how to fix
