Savage flcp-k backorder

Hey guys,
I'm new to Sniper's Hide and I'm not really sure where to post this topic so I'm just going to be safe and post it here and if anybody can find a more appropriate place for it please feel free to move it. I have been thinking about getting into long range shooting for some time now and this last August I decided to go to my local gun shop and order a rifle that I could use for long range applications. I decided to go with a Savage flcp-k in .308 because I'm a lefty and the .308 was and always will be my favorite caliber (this is just my personal opinion ). I was told that this rifle was on backorder and that it will be a four week wait. Well now it's December and there is still no news on when I should be receiving my rifle. I went to the gun shop multiple times and they said that they contacted Savage who told them that the rifle is still on backorder and that they will get it when they get it. I'm just getting into shooting and I had to trade two of my rifles to get this one, now I'm stuck waiting and am very dissatisfied. I heard good things about Savage but this is really ruining my first precision rifle purchase experience. I don't get why it would take over 3 months to get me a factory production rifle. I would love to go with a custom GAP but I'm a college student so the money is tight (and honestly I don't think my shooting abilities are to the point where I would need a GAP). Anyways I was wondering if any other members on this forum are experiencing the same problem that I have, and if so what should I do. Is there a way to express to Savage my dissatisfaction with their service, or am I just going to have to though it out and go with Remington or some other rifle manufacturer next time.

I traded a Yugoslavian SKS and a Romanian PSL-54 and I still need to pay $200 once I get the rifle. The SKS and the PSL were great for plinking targets, but not very accurate so I'm not really upset that I gave them up. I'm just upset that I'm waiting for the rifle instead of trying to improve my shooting skills on the range.

You traded them to the person who is telling you the rifle is on backorder?

I can see where the LH version might be in short supply but unless you have already paid for it, there are other vendors you could talk to. On line there are numerous reputable vendors who can get what you need to your FFL dealer.

They are back ordered everywhere QQ. If this is the rifle you want, you will have to wait. If you could get out of the deal and get cash instead of trade, you could build nearly the same rifle for the same money starting with a lefty action for a donor, I'm sure someone on this board that lives close by has a wrench for savages. Rocket science they aint.

Yes I really wanted the rifle, and the guy actually called a vendor who told him that they could get the rifles in 4 weeks. Somebody lied. It would not be a big deal if I had another scoped rifle to use until this one arrived but I don't. I use my buddies sps but it would be nice to have my own. I did not purchase online since I would have to pay cash, and the dealer gave me a better deal for buying the rifle through him. He was very nice an apologetic about the whole situation. I'm sure it would be in his best interest to get me the rifle asap, so I really can't be mad at the guy. He gave us a box of free ammo when we went to check on the status of the order.

So that's what he has been doing with his time instead of practicing, collecting lefty savages.


Dadzic, you'll probably have to wait this one out. That rifle is likely at the bottom of the production/sales list.

He will need them all when the angry Viking fans come after him, he will have to arm all the guys from the Wrangler commercial and hope that they can outlast the onslaught

I got one in July,and love it. I couldn't find one in any of the shops around and was talking about it a work. Turns out a guy that had recently retired had gotten his FFL. Called him up and he had me one in two days. Mine is left handed. Not tyring to bragg or anything, you might try a different source, as stated above. Something to think about.

You're right

Maybe he should have been stocking up on rifles that would give him a better rate of fire.

What ammo works best for you? Is the accuracy as good as the rumors about it?

You could try to contact Savage Arms, they should be able to give you an idea of the wait, or point you to a dealer that has one in stock. Can't believe that it would take that long to get one. I could be wrong, but I suspect that your dealer does the same thing my local dealer does, orders from one wholesaler and won't consider looking for anything anywhere else.

The rifle can shoot way better than I can.It's the best out of the rifle I've ever bought.I have had some crazy good groups when I do my part{which is not very often},I am still learning and will be so forever.I run 44.1 grns IMR 4064 and 180 grn Hornady SST.It seems to like that pretty well.If your set on one it will be worth the wait.Like I said, I couldn't find one till I talked to right guy.Good luck.

That is good to hear. I probably can't shoot to the abilities of the rifle either, but it's always nice to know that it has the capabilities. I guess I'm just gonna have to be patient, when I finally do get it I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Thanks for all the responses.
