Savage model 12 4.4" SA. Hi guys, I'm finding scope bases rather overwhelming in regards to finding the right setup for my Savage target action. These LRP actions are the closed top round back which means any base with a built in recoil lug will NOT work. I'm wanting a high quality 20moa PICATINNY matching base and rings. I was going to get a Seekins rail and rings combo, or a badger rail and rings combo but damn, my luck I'd be spending that money and end up with a f'ing scope base that has a lug or some shit and won't work on my action.

I know I want the lowest possible overall height to clear a 42mm objective (SWFA SS). Anyone have any tips for what has worked well for them? I searched for Nightforce stuff and it appears all their bases are lugged which means won't work on an LRP action. Thanks in advance.

Have both Model 10 FCP HS Precision .308 and Model 12 LRP 260 Rem HS Precision. - both have both have same SA and installed Nightforce steel base Mfg. #A168 style 20 moa 6-48 (Brownells 749-012-02WB) although you can find multiple places on net. Used NF heavy duty scope rings and even change scope from rifle to rifle with slight check of zero each time.

Thank you Jarhead, but when you say they both have the same SA action, are you sure? I was under the impression the FCP series SA's were "open top" whereas the LRP SA was a closed top, meaning you could if you wanted use a recoil lugged scope base on the FCPHS but not on the LRP. I'm guessing you used a non-recoil lugged scope base on both. I'm heading over to Brownells now to see if I can get an order placed. Thanks again Jarhead. If no luck there I'm probably going to go for Bench Source or Farrel but I was originally avoiding those because of how freaking tall they are compared to the others I've run.

NF HD scope rings did require me to install cheek riser on both HS Precisions. Plus the steel does add weight. I use both in local BR.

Looks like you already order Badgers, I have Farrell bases on all three of my LRP actions. .223, 6.5, 7 saum

I'd imagine EGW has some, I have a couple of their rails seem to be super solid over the few years I've had them.

I used EGW on my Savage 12LRP. Have used EGW on several other rifles as well.

I'm using farrell 30moa base with seekins rings
