I picked one a while back and have shot it a few times but I need to get to an outdoor range. We don't have any ranges here. I like the peep sight and can see it really well along with the overall looks of the rifle. I wanted a light short hard hitting magazine fed rifle that I could use for anything in a shtf situation. And I'm certain one is coming. 308 caliber, accurate and so far reliable. The trigger pull is set to the lowest setting which IIRC in 2.5 pounds. Now I need a few extra mags and some more ammo! One thing I found remiss is that the manual that came with the rifle does not mention one word about how to adjust the rear sight. Now of course I figured it out as I have been around guns a while, but not everyone has. Oh well. Thoughts?

I owned two. Wish I could have all my money back that I wasted on those turds. Sure some shoot decent, but feed issues, ejection issues, scope bases coming loose, accuracy issues, etc. make it where I will not own another. And I won't recommend Savage to anyone.

For a "shtf" rifle I'd rather have a semi auto anyway. Both rifles I mentioned are hands down more reliable and shoot good enough for what you say you're looking for.

Thanks, I already have it so hopefully mine will be good. I always used locktite on scope bases however. As far as semi's go I have a few but other styles.

The "bottom metal" is the magwell and trigger guard piece, the action screws pass through to affix the barrel and receiver.
To the stock.

Are these savage specific mags only?
Thanks. No the mags are available through magpul for around 40 bucks.
