Here is my issue I was loading up some 167 gr. scenars yesterday for my 10 FCP-SR (308)and I took my col tool to measure where the bullet contacts the lands. This is what I found out it contacted the lands at a col of 2.761 back .030 off and that's 2.731 this just seems like the chambers cut really short. I know the new Savages are comming with shorter chambers but to me this just seems really short. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Savage short throat?

All the Savages I've measured are short. I kind of like them that way.

With my rifle, loading a 175 SMK to book length of 2.800 would be jammed .009.

And my 208gr AMAX is touching the lands at 2.920. It is great because I can keep the 208 mag fed rather than single load.
