Guys,
I have been kicking around the idea of a Savage switch barrel with CDI bottom metal. Assuming I will be able to buy AICS magazines again someday, I was wondering if anyone here knows if I can switch between the .223 AICS mags and the .308 AICS mags.
I understand the two mags have the same footprint.
I'm hoping I can get the rifle to shoot with the plastic .223 AICS mags then if I want to switch barrels and go to a larger bolt head for a .308 sized cartridge I can maybe tweak the lips on the larger .308 metal magazines and get it to work with something in the .308 cartridge (or Creedmoor) family?
Or, maybe not?
I'm wondering if there's something in the real world I haven't considered that might shoot this idea down.
If anyone has done this I'd sure appreciate your input here.
Thanks.
