Re: say what you will about FORDs...

When I first got with my Wife I had a 1978 Ford f250 4x4 351m with the 4 speed granny tranny with 4.10 Dana 44 axles. I loved the hell out of that truck even though I had a brand new truck I would drive the 78 more. We never once went to feed cows and didn't run it out of gas since the gas gauge was broken but I always carried enough in cans to get us home. Exhaust was straight pipes out the back and even though it had a radio it was pointless to even turn it on. Had some good times in that wagon but when I was done with college I left it for my pops to drive and who knows WTF my mom did with it. Was the first and only truck I have turned a wrench on. Head gaskets, clutch, rebuilt Carb, and some axle issues were done all by reading some tech manuals.

I have always admired the 78/79 bronco's it looks like a great wagon you have there.

I like Fords a lot. I have been beating this thing mercilessly for 11 years. It has been a solid 12 second 1/4 miler since I put it together.
Other than routine maintenance the only hiccups have been a couple clutches and one set of clutches in the posi unit in the rear end. Both expected and fairly inexpensive to fix.
I'm looking for a F-250 now. It has to be 4 wheel drive, carbureted and a manual trans. The right one will turn up.
The guy in the picture is my youngest son who thinks he should get my car.

I used a Super-Duty Crew cab with a Power-Stroke to drag this Sprint Car and all the stuff to run it for 6 years. Every week 400+ mile round trip to Central Pennsylvania.

Most teams also used Fords-before they stepped up to Kenworths or Peterbilts.

Re: say what you will about FORDs...

I do not have a fancy truck. Just a plain Jane F-150. It is a 2001 model. I have been wanting to buy a new one for the last three years. I decided three years ago that when I have the first problem with the truck I will buy a new one. This truck has never been in the shop, except for routine maintenance. I am still waiting for the first problem. The truck now has 97,000 miles on it. I wonder how much longer I am going to have to wait before I can buy a new truck??

The only thing I have changed are the brakes at 70,000 miles. And I changed the battery even though I am not sure if it needed it or not. I am on my third set of tires., but they were put on new last fall. Tom.

My entire family was GM growing up and I never really gave much thought to Fords. Once I got started in LE I was issued a 1996 Crown Vic that had around 85K on it. I beat the hell out of that car, left it idling for hours in the summer heat, launched it like I was Luke Duke in Hazard County and smoked the brakes regularly for a year and a half. It never complained. I was then issued a new 2002 Crown Vic and it received the same treatment without so much as a complaint. I was sold.

I have an 02 Ram but when my wife and son finally kill it I'm hoping to afford an F250.

Got a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 with 97,000 miles on it. Has never broken down, stalled, failed to start...ever. I'm gonna drive it until it dies, just to see how long it could last.
