Doesn anyone have a link to a chart that would show how much a 1/4'" adjustment affects POI at various yardages?? I know I'm probably not wording this right and I'm not sure what to type for a search. If my scope moves the POI 1/4" at 100 yards I'd like to know how much one click moves it at 200-300-400....ect. My old simple mind isnt wanting to wrap its self around how that works this morning. Thanks for your help.

Re: Scope adjustment chart??

It simply moves the POI 1/4 MOA at any distance, I know your looking for a hard number but that is a mistake.

Re: Scope adjustment chart??

1 moa is 1 inch at 100y, so 1 moa at 200y is 2" and so on. So 1/4 moa at 100 is 1/4 of an inch. At 200y it would be 1/2, 300y would be 3/4", 400y would be 1" and so on.

Re: Scope adjustment chart??

I stand behind my original statement, at any distance 1 click is 1/4 MOA, it really doesn't have a assigned value, this logic will make complete sense when you upgrade your scope to one with a reticle that matches the turrets.

Re: Scope adjustment chart??

Here is a ballistics table for 1000' in elevation and 50 degrees F for a .308 shooting Sierra Match King 175's. It will probably not be perfect for your rifle but it gets you in the ballpark.
YARDS MOA Elevation Adj
100 0
200 2
300 5
400 8.25
500 12
600 16.25
700 21
800 26
900 32
1000 38.75

Re: Scope adjustment chart??

True .25MOA calculations are a hair more than this example, but gets you very close to each click value in inches at different yardages.

This is a simple way to remember the values of each .25 MOA click out in the field. Think of the calculations in a fraction. The top number is the number yardage in 100's the lower number 4 is your MOA .

Example:
1/4 = 1/4" (100 yards)
2/4 = 1/2"
3/4 = 3/4"
4/4 =1"
5/4 = 1=1/4" (500 yards)
6/4 = 1-1/2"
7/4 = 1-3/4"
8/4 = 2"
9/4 = 2-1/4"
10/4 = 2-1/2" (1000 yards)

Hope this makes sense. It's easy to remember.

I have the true .25 MOA chart somewhere. If I find it, I'll post it.

I've found this helps me when I use the Leupold Mark 4 scopes with .25 MOA turrets and a MIL scale reticle and in SFP. In a perfect world, matching turrets and reticles are preferred.

Re: Scope adjustment chart??

Think of it as quarters as in money. If its 1/4 moa clicks This has always made it easy for me 400 yards =4 or 4 quarters which is one dollars or 1 inch at 400 yards, 700yrds is 7 quarters which = $1.75 or 1.75 inches

Re: Scope adjustment chart??

If your scope is IPHY adjustments- there is a quick equation

Distance/100 * adjustment value = total inches of adjustment at given distance

Example- 530 yards, Scope with 1/4 adjustments
5.3 * 1/4 = 1.325" @ 530 yards.

875 yards, Scope with 1/4 adjustments
8.75 * 1/4 = 2.1875" @ 875 yards

280 yards, Scope with 1/8 adjustments
2.8 * 1/8 = .35" @ 280 yards

Re: Scope adjustment chart??

Thanks for all the replies. Took my son out Saturday and gave it a try. Lazed the target ( a milk jug full of water in front of a sheet of cardboard) at 600 yards. We were shooting a Bushmaster Varminter .223. After making our adjustments on the scope for wind and elevation his first shot was 10 inches to the left of the jug. He hit the jug on his 4th shot. Next jug he also hit on his 4th and 5th shot. He's 15 yrs old and this was our first try at this. I was proud of the kid!!! The wind sure seemed to push the bullets around a bit. He really has his heart set on a Crusader....he's hooked on this. :)
