after pouring over thread after thread i have become even more undecided as to what scope to purchase. I just picked up a savage 10 .308 win. with choate stock (mcmillan a-5 copy). i am looking for a decent first scope for my first long range rifle. i plan on shooting out to 1000yd max but more commonly 700-800yd. i have been mulling over the falcon menace 4-14x44 FFP, leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x50 and the millett 6-25x56 LRS-1. any thoughts/advice. anything to stay away from? anything to look for out of these that sets one apart? another brand that woudl be better? the rifle cost $650, so as for scope price range i would like to keep it around there, not including a base and rings. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Try that search engine....it works great.
Buy cheap first...untill you out grow it then move it off to the next guy....alot better to take a $400 loss if you can't re-sell it than a $1500 loss if you can't re-sell the Leupy.
