Is it weird to not need to bed a base? Rem 700 and a talley 20moa base. I started putting it together figuring I would need to, but there are NO gaps, nadda zilch zero. I tightened the front down its g2g, took out the front screws tightened the back, its g2g also.

Is this normal or just lucky?

I've got a TPS coming, it has a recoil lug, its steel, I have a torque wrench in in./lbs & loctite, and as long is the fit is fine I see no need to bed. The weaver junk I just pulled off sure could've used some bedding. But its aluminum, and a $20 rail.

Stocks on the other hand...

I would return it for one that fits with a more suitable gap.

+1!!! Here's what it should look like. ;)

My Badger said to smear a little red loctite on the bottom before putting it down the final time. I figure thats enough bedding for me if it needed it at all.

Badger does recommend that...but not for bedding. It's to keep water/moisture from getting underneath the base and causing rust.

I ended up bedding the base (Bader 20MOA) that I have in the photo above with JB Weld...the base was a thousandth or two higher than the rear of the action..it also gave me 4MOA in additional elevation in doing so.

See LoneWolf's video if anyone is interested in doing it.

alright so...should i smear a little oil or somethin under the base before i loctite the screws in? when I took off the factory remington mounts there was a little "liquid" substance that i figured was oil but was un sure...

I understand the purpose of why Badger says to do that. I was just saying that was all the "bedding" mine got since it fit so damn well without anything.

Interesting topic.

My rifle is a Remington SA. NightForce from the base to the rings and scope. I torqued the base down and it bent( strait edge test). Put an indicator on it if'n ya want.I wish Remington would make a full round receiver!
Ended up bedding it with some Devcon. One word on the Devcon. In small amounts, weigh that stuff cause it wont set up.
Strait as an arrow now.
