Rifle Scopes Scope base for Savage PC ?

Does the amount of scope base taper (0-20 MOA) depend on the amount of elevation adjustment on the scope?

Is 20 MOA too much for 100 to 500 yard ranges?

I've just purchased a Savage Precision Carbine (my first bolt gun) and haven't decided on a scope yet. I am planning on purchasing a Farell base and rings.

I'm new to SH and would like to give thanks in advance for any replies.

I would be looking really close at the EGW HD scope rail and EGW rings for the 10PC. It is a lower version of their tried and true standard rail.

To answer your question, NO, a 20MOA rail will work just fine for 100-500 yards. I currently have a 25MOA rail and it works super good at 100 yards... no problems.
