Need to buy some 6-48 base screws (or re-tap action for something more common), and while the base (EGW aluminum) looks like it is machined for the weaver oval head screws, the countersunk holes are a little screwed up from someone drilling the screw heads. So, I am considering cleaning up the base countersinks, or going with the fillister head screws and making the base mounting holes flat bottomed. I know the flat bottomed will allow for some movement, where the oval heads are a more positive positioning screw, assuming the Remington receiver holes are properly located.
Anybody have any pro's or con's of either route?
What is the taper angle on the base of the oval head screws, so I can get the right countersink if I go with the weaver style oval heads?
Thanks
