I am looking for a scope base for a Remington 700 short action. Here are my parameters.

Cartridge: 22-250
Bullet: 75 grain A-Max
Velocity: 3300 fps(3330)
BC: .440

I want to zero this rifle at 300 yards and be able to dial up to 1,000 yards. The two scopes I am considering are NF BR's. One has 40MOA, and the other has 50MOA adjustment.

Trajectoty of the bullet(from a calculator):
With a 100 yard zero the drop at 1,000 is 255 inches.

With a 300 yard zero(where I want to zero the rifle) the drop at 1,000 is 225 inches. The calculator says I need to dial in 21.5 MOA in order to be dead on at 1,000 yards.

Which base would you guys recommend?? A regular or a 20MOA base?? Any particular brand base?? Rings??

Bear Basin has a pretty good deal on NF scopes til Monday, so I am wanting to order the scope, base, and rings on Monday. Thanks, Tom.

Re: Scope base--Which One??

A 20moa base should do you just fine. You might have an issue getting a 100yd zero out of a 30moa base with the BR scopes. they are just limited on travel.

Im a bit bias on what rings/base to get

Liberty optics has what you need in stock..

Re: Scope base--Which One??

HOGGHEAD, I would recommend a 20 MOA base for your application. We offer them in Stainless, Black Oxided Stainless, and Titanium for those looking for a little bit of "bling"

. Like Seekins, I'm a bit biased, but you won't go wrong with anything from him, Badger Ordinance, or Near Manufacturing.

Nightforce 20moa Base and Nightforce Ultra Rings all the way. I have a 20moa base on every rifle I own and getting a 100 yard zero is a non issue. 6BR and 6Dasher are the smallest calibers I own.

Re: Scope base--Which One??

20 MOA for sure. I would use a nightforce base if you are going with there optic, but I'm a bit OCD. I have a NF base on my .308, and it has held up very well. My wifes rifle has a Badger base, and it is up to par as well. I wouldn't hesitate to buy either one again.

As far as rings go Seekins, Badger, NF, etc. are all good, and for the budget minded shooter there is the Burris XTR's, and the new SWFA Super Sniper rings.
