Hey guys, I finally got to shoot at a little distance this past memorial day weekend with my bolt gun and have a few questions. I was shooting my .308 using copper creek 175 SMK. I was shooting at multiple distances anywhere from 200-500 yards at several stationary steel targets. When my gunsmith built my gun he made me dope cards for the ammo I was using that go all the way out to 1500 yards in 25 yard increments. So my buddy with me had a laser range finder and would range all the targets, from which then I would look at my dope card and locate the corresponding MOA change for whatever distance I was shooting. I have a Nightforce scope with the NPR1 reticle that has verticle lines at every 1 MOA. So.... if my dope card said 2.5 MOA, I would hold over (up) 2.5 MOA, Fire, DING (steel hit) or 10.75 MOA, hold, fire, DING! It was a blast! My question is if I did not wish to use holdovers, and setup my zero stop on my scope for a 100 yard zero can someone explain how to adjust my elevation turret that is in 1/4" or 1/4 MOA adjustments? Lets assume for my question I need 8 MOA of holdover... do I multiply 4x8moa to get 32 "clicks" into my scope ? I know the scope elevation turret has 20MOA of adjustment per full revolution. I am sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but I have tried using the search function and it seems like everyone tries to answer with something more confusing than the next. My goal is to understand this so I no longer have to use hold overs all the time. Thank you in advance

If you have to go "up" 8 MOA then look at the numbers on your turret. Every 1 minute is four clicks that being said yes you could count the 32 "clicks", or you just dial up to the 8 and fire away. Your scope is in MOA so that's what the numbers co-inside with.
