Zeroed a swfa 5-20 in a 308 yesterday. Have it on a 20 moa base. Have 16 mils of elevation which is more than I will ever need and have 10 from the bottom. Issue is I had to use 4 mils of windage to zero. I know this is a lot but is it acceptable considering how much adjustment is in the scope. I know something is out of line whether it is the base or base screw holes. Should I leave It or fix the holes, base, etc?

Re: Scope elevation and Windage question?

Do you have a factory gun, it is not uncommon to have mounting holes out of line on factory actions.

that is 14.4 inches a 100yds which is not really bad, but certainly it is more than usual. You can have a competant gunsmith retap your mounting holes. That should fix it if that is where the problem lies.

Re: Scope elevation and Windage question?

Non-issue so long as it isn't effecting your ability to dial enough windage downrange, which you should have well more than enough. Just double check that you have everything installed correctly and roll with it.

Re: Scope elevation and Windage question?

Custom built 308 on Rem 700 receiver with no truing or 8-40 opening on screw holes, did that on two other rifles to fix alignment problems as they had more misalignment than this one. Probably going to leave it as I have over 5 mils of
Windage left and right and I usually dial for elevation and hold for wind.
Thanks for the help!
