Want to be sure the paralax will adjust down and would like to be able to have a mildot or other ranging reticle.

    Tasco VAR62442M. Lists around $79.00.

42mm adjustable objective, focuses down to 15yd. Covered, resetable 1/4MOA Target knobs, 75+ MOA of elevation. 1" Tube.

6X-24X magnification, true Mil-Dot reticle, nominally ranges at 10x, some say 8x is more accurate. Some less than optimal brightness, but acceptable unless trying to use it around dawn or dusk.

To get optimal use of the elevation, I suggest using Burris Signature Zee rings, and using the offset inserts to build 20MOA of slope into the mounting. It may help with windage centering, too.

This is a genuinely surprising scope, performing and behaving much unlike its lowball pricetag would suggest. I have four, have had them in serious use since early 2006, including on my 1000yd Match rifle, and on my lightwieght .30-'06 M70 Hunter. I don't need more scopes right now, but that's what I'd get again if I did. The same model (mostly) is also made in 3.5-10x maganification.

I have been using an older Super Sniper with success.
I use regular mounts, not a tapered rail, have yet to run out of elevation shooting to 300.

Re: scope for 22 rifle to 300 yds that will focus 50 y

I use a fixed power Mark 4 (32x Premier boosted) and a Mark 4 8.5-25x on my .22s. Both of mine will focus at 50 yards no problem, but the 8.5-25x won't get parralax free much closer than 50. I don't shoot at 300 yards with 'em, but the fixed power has a "bunch" of adjustment in it and would be my choice.

Weaver T Series, 24 or 36 power. Hard to beat. 1/8 inch clicks and target dot. Both of mine track perfectly.

Sorry, didn't see the part about the Mil-dot.
Next choice would be the Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25.

sigtron 2-10x32 will give you 120 moa of elevation. Also check out the viper scopes with hold over reticles, and the nikon buckmaster with bdc reticles is truly great for 22lr longrange shooting.

I dont know if its really in the price range you are looking at but I have had a good experience with the USO ST-10 with a GAP Mil reticle on my 40X.
I know its probably a bit of overkill on a mere .22 but its worked well for me anywhere from 45yds to 100yds, and I plan to stretch it out to 200yds when I eventually get some steel targets.

    Bill,

The Leupold 3-9X 33mm EFR is a great scope - I own several of the old school Vari-X-based ones. However, the 3-9X 33 EFR is somewhat limited with respect to it's 64 MOA total adjustment range. Since the Leupold scopes are "optically centered", in theory you should have 32 MOA "Up" and 32 MOA "Down". And that is before you use some of that up when you zero.

You don't specify what Anschutz .22 you have, but since you will be shooting out to 300 yards you should definitely get a 20 MOA base if one is available for your model Anschutz.

BTW, a Leupold 4-12X 40 A.O. will typically focus down to around 20 yards, so you really don't need an EFR for the distances you said you'll be shooting at with your Anschutz. Much better image quality than the Falcon, and my old-school scopes have better (more positive) turrets than my Falcon.

You might also consider a Falcon 4-14X 44mm FFP, as you can get both MIL/MIL and MOA/MIL versions. 23 MILs' claimed adjustment range for the MIL version and 75 MOA for the 1/4 MOA adjustment version. My 4-14X 44 MIL/MIL has right around 24 MILs' of travel (the reticle actually moves).

Pride Fowler makes a nice .22 scope. They employ a BC reticle. I think the Zeiss Rapid Z reticle comes from them.

    I think I pd 250 for mine.
