i have a bushmaster 450 with 16 barrel, it is used for hunting big game in mt. anyway iam looking to upgrade the 3x9 scope that is on it now with something better. the max range on the 450 is 300 yrds. what kind of optic and brand whould be best?

It's gonna depend on how you plan to use it.
In my case I had found myself in several cases of surprised close quarters situations with my target from 7 to 100 yards and a traditional scope at the highest magnification. I got skunked. So I set up my 450b for fast target acquisition at those ranges, with the ability to still get hits out to 250-300 yards.
My choice was a Trijican Accupoint TR21-R (1.25-4x)

Oh, you might want to look at some of the Muzzle loader scopes with the BDC reticle. The 450b has a trajectory that closely matches what you get from a modern ML, so the BDC reticles come very close.
