My backup hunting rifle is a SAKO Finnlight 300WinMag. 1st string is a15y.o. Remington Custom Showp AWR , same caliber with Swarovski scope FFP/TDS reticle. The SAKO has a Leupold 4.5x14 with Boone&Crocket reticle. I hate the Leupold, B&C only works at 14x, not practical for real world hunting. Suggestions???I'd like 30mm tube, FFP scope. 10x is plenty of magnification. I like my SKMR3 reticle and my old TDS has worked really well with success out to 600yds on a moose.

Thanks!

If you are going to spend a lot of money, the Vortex 6-24 AMG might be a good fit. Another option could be the March 2.5-25 in either the 42mm or 52mm versions; I know a few guys who rave about March scopes for their hunting rifles because of how light-weight they are.

I had the Sako 85 in 30-06 with a Swaro Z6, Gave the rifle to my brother without the optic. Still have the scare above my right eye. Shooting out of a tree in a bad position holding the rifle like a girl. Recoil from hell.

Before you jump into the ffp For hunting. Realize it's easier to scale the b&c reticle for 10x then to use a thin ffp reticle for a quick shot in shaded timber or low light conditions. I had a FFP 4-16 atacr and tried it on my hunting rifle but the reticle was very thin and hard to see at 4x during during huntin conditions. I might replace it with a SFP ATACR, but deer camp starts in 2 weeks and a vx6 is mounted and ready. In my area, the PNW, I'll stick to the sfp.

Something to consider anyways. Good luck.

The SFP ATACR 4-16x50 is a great option for hunters, we'd be happy to discuss various options at 916.670.1103

I have Bushnell lrhs 3-12 on both my hunting rifles. Imho it is a great choice, for me 12x is plenty of power for shooting in field conditions.
A sfp scope in 14-16 power can be tough to use in many hunting situations.
