Hello, gentleman, I'am just getting into precision rifle shooting, although I am not new to shooting I shoot USPSA handguns and multi-gun so I know my way around the AR, shotgun, and pistol, so today I just picked up my new Remy 700 SPS, I have been looking at scopes for awhile knowing that I was going to get one, but today when I got my rifle a Zeiss Conquest cought my eye it has the rapid Z 1000 retical and is 4.5-14x50 and best of all it is brand new and was only $770.00 So my BIG QUESTION is does anyone know anything about the rapid Z 1000 reticle and will it be ok for a 308. Thanks for any and all info.

Re: scope help

I have the Rapid Z-1000 on a 308 and it work well for the most part. At some distances I need to use the turret for fine-tuning. I would recommend a lot of other scopes for Tactical shooting over the Rapid Z-1000. For shooting steel or hunting it is a good way. I would recommend a scope that has a Mil reticle and 1/10mil RAD turrets or MOA on MOA.

Nightforce is one of the best scopes on the market for what you get, Leupold will be coming out with a MIL on MIL scope, and if you are looking for an FFP scope and are willing to put out some cash there is the USO, S&B, and the Premier.

Hope this helps.

Re: scope help

those "pre-set" lines are nice enough for quick reference or making center mass type hits. however variances in ammo, rifle setups, climate, etc. doesn't neccessarily mean you are going to hit the same spot where the the "extra lines" say you should.

they get you in the neighborhood, fine tune with turrets. it's not just the one youare talking about but all the "pre set" holdovers,

sort of like advertised gas milage for cars vs. actual mileage you get.
