Hey guys,

I'm trying to outfit a new Colt 6940 and am going to put a Leupold MK4 1.5-5 30mm on it. I want to make sure I get a mount for it that will clear the factory rear sight on it as I will be leaving the rear sight on it for backup at work but still don't want the scope mounted too high.

Anyone has experience with this combo? I'm thinking the Larue quick release would clear it but want to make sure or want to look at other options. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm using an ADM Recon mount with a Mark 4 1.5-5 30mm. Maybe this will give you a rough idea about how much room you will need.

AR sight height is @1.4" above the rail.

Unless the scope has a huge eyepiece (almost none do), you will have no problem mounting that scope over your rear BUIS with a Larue or any other AR rail mount.

Cool, thanks guys.

I have another Colt AR with an ARMS 40 rear and it almost seems like the one on the 6940 will need more clearance but I haven't actually put them side by side yet to check, I'll have to do that.

Thanks again,
