using feelers guages to mount the rings we are checking for the gap between each side of the scope on each ring correct ?

if that is correct what size feelers guage should i use ?

and are their any other options out their other then the fat wrench ? will a normal inch pound torque wrench work ?

Re: scope mounting, and fat wrench questions

im not 100% sure what you are talking about. i believe by feeler gauges you are talking about leveling a scope?

as far as the fat wrench i think you are talking about the wheeler engenering fat wrench. i have one and ive only used it a few times and im not to impressed. to me it feels like 20 inch pounds is way over torquring. i could be wrong

Re: scope mounting, and fat wrench questions

I use a regular torque wrench (make sure it's an inch pound wrench NOT a foot pound). 15 inch pounds for the base and 12 for the rings. A lot of people use feeler gauges to set the gap in rings on both sides to the same value. I think it's unnessary as long as you use a logical torque sequence.

Re: scope mounting, and fat wrench questions

using the feeler guage is a very simple and fast way to get it done. you can also use sliding paralells if you have those. the Wheeler Fat wrench is junk. get a good in/lb torque wrench and be done with it.
