I did a search on this but didn't find anything real current, so I'll try here.

I've got a Daniel Defense QD scope mount in 30mm and have tried using this on two rifles with success but - even though both are R700's the elevation and windage are not close ( same mfg 20moa rails on both). So I have to re-zero and sight in with every swap.

My question is; is this typical for others that have tried using one 'good' scope and swapping on different rifles? This is a NF scope and has a zero stop so re-setting that is more wear n tear than I like to subject it to. Is there a way to minimize the hassle or does this just go with the concept of one 'good' scope'?

How much difference are you seeing between the two?

Your situation is not uncommon, just because you're swapping the scope from one Remington 700 to another, even with the same base on them, doesn't mean they're aligned exactly the same. Things like the scope base mounting holes relationship to centerline and flex in the scope bases due to an unbedded scope base can cause significant shifts between two rifles.

Thanks for the responses...kind of what I expected. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something.

Seems like a good idea on paper, but the reality doesn't match up.

It's been 2-3 mils in azimuth; 1-2 in elevation. One of my major concerns is the zero stop - those are tiny little screws and the less that I 'screw' with them, the better.

I got the idea from Todd Hodnett's Art of the Precision Rifle .

I think most everyone has tried it for a time or two but ultimately follow earlier advice and just get another scope when you can.
