Hi all,

Looking for a cheap scope option for an old Ruger m77 .223. Had this gun around 25 years and the old Simmons whitetail classic has finally given up the ghost.

I’m turning this into a coyote gun. Something with illumination would be nice. Looking to have price be $250 or less. I’m fine with a SFP reticle, maybe a BDC type reticle. I usually don’t like them, but might be good for this application. Mag range 2-4 low end and 10-16 top end would probably be good. I’d spend more time researching but am kinda in a time crunch as a buddy wants to go hunting this weekend. I appreciate the help in advance.

Edit: one of my main features is something with a good eye box and FOV for fast target acquisition.

I got a Burris MSR 223 3-9 2 years ago for just over $150. I've been using it on my M1A and it has been working great. The turrets are a little mushy but it tracks well and the glass is quite nice. I like the capped windage on it. My biggest complaint is the reticle is on the thick side. It's a great scope for the money if you find it on sale though.

The other scope that I have found to be an excellent value is the sightron SI. I have the 3x9 mil dot reticle. I got it when they came out for $100 and wow!!! It lives on a .22 not but I ran it on an AR for a long time. Look for an SI Tac since your budget covers that.
