Rifle Scopes Scope Rings

I'm looking for a set of 30mm Picatinny type scope rings for my bolt gun.
Seems there are many options. What am I looking for in a set of scope rings? What are the differences between the brands?

Can't go wrong with the likes of Seekins or Badger, theres some other less expensive brands that provide some quality at a more affordable price.

I went with Nightforce steel rings. Paid $165.00 but I never heard of any issues with them.

Okay, that brings up another question: Steel or aluminum?

IMHO its personal preference. Our owner dropped his hunting rifle out of his tree stand two seasons ago. It was a swaro z6 with bt mounted on a NF base with UL rings. The turret sheared off the scope on the way down. Scope stayed zeroed. I've never had a problem with quality alloy rings.

Seekins are excellent.

Steel or aluminum isn't the right question. The right question is quality or cheap. I would take quality aluminum rings over cheap steel any day of the week. I have no hesitation using Seekins aluminum rings on my match rifles which get beat up pretty good.

I plan on using a set of AAD triple lug rings on my next bolt gun build. AADMOUNT Triple Lug Rings

Seekins also have some great rings and I would use those if I needed a size other than 30mm.
