The thing with 50 cal scopes is you have to drop the coin to get one durable enough to handle the double recoil from the shot and the muzzle brake. There's only a couple low cost options out there that can handle it, one being the fixed power SWFA SS series due to its simplicity of design. Add options like variable magnification and you lose that durability from most manufacturers until you start paying for it. At least most good scopes have etched reticles nowadays. I had a reticle break on a Unertl mounted on a M82A1 during firing.
The other side is having enough magnification to reach ELR distances. While some folks buy a 50 to blast away inside 200m, most want to stretch its legs a bit. This requires at least 15x and most target shooters want 20+.
