I ordered an accuracy international ax50 in January, paid in full and is supposed to be here soon. I just ordered a Schmidt and Bender 5-25x56 pm2 p4l fine moa FW scope, long range accuracy f class bipod, and the AI 45 MOA scope mount. I have a Leupold 65inlb torque t handle. Is this the torque I should use?
I used it only sako trg with warne mount with zeiss 6-20x50 . The sako shoots great to 600 yards ( I've never shot it farther). This gun/scope is so much more expensive I want to mount it perfect. Any other tips would be appreciated.
Thanks

I torque my AI mounts to 18 for the rings and 31 for the base. Do a search the AI values have been posted several times.

I also use 18" pounds on rings but use 40" pounds on the base. I have the 20 moa AI mount.

NightForce manuals say 25 in/# for ring screws and 68 in/# for crossbolt on rings. I have been using 15 in/# on ring screws and 65 in/# for the crossbolts. Haven't had a scope move yet.

Check with the manufacturer of each component for the manufacturer's suggested torque levels. Also note that torque settings are almost always quoted for a completely dry screw and nut or hole. If your components are not clean and dry you will be significantly over-torquing. With that kind of investment, you should definitely buy one of the Borka, torque wrench, tool kits. A search will give you lots of reviews for the Borka.

I pm'd Boris, the tool's designer and manufacturer, with a question regarding torque settings for lubed parts and the use of loc-tite. His response for parts lubed with oil or grease was to reduce the torque value by 35%. As regards loc-tite he cautioned against it's use. With that caution in mind, he said that a wild-ass-guess for loc-tite would be a 25% reduction and that I would be proceeding at my own risk. As you probably know, this is in reference to blue loc-tite.

For the invaluable advice received in this thread, you are expected to post pics and a range report ASAP. LOL

1. upper ring cap screws: 2.0nm / 18 in/lb.
2. scope mount clamp screws: 3.5nm / 31 in/lb.

You find some values for AI rifles in the photo below. For AX I don't have anything so is better to check with the manufacturer like everybody said.

For my AE , I use IOR scope and rings, the torque value (recommended by IOR) are:

- rings caps (steel rings) 20 lbs-in or 2,2 N/m
- rings to picatinny base : 65 lbs-in or 7,3 N/m

I ordered the borka after i got the first reply with the lower torque numbers. I am still waiting on the AX 50 but my scope is here... you would think after i paid $12,000 for gun and magazines and bipod on Jan 1st that I'd have it by now. The store said 4 people had over 4,000 worth of accessories so they got theirs first.

I have my Sako TRG with my ziess 6.5-20X50 on the warne base with warne mounts. I am thinking its overtorqued now.... It shoots great, any reason to readjust with new torque wrench? 550Yd groundhog shot is farthest I have tested it. 250 range its sub .5MOA with nosler custom competition brass and 168 nosler CC or ballistic tip.

Here at last

Wife went and picked up gun and my son gave me his vortex red dot off of his S&W15-22.. We all shot a couple rounds. Gun is huge, wife is 5-10

S&BPM2 should be here tomorrow

This is TRG with 4 shot group @ 200 Nosler CC 168 and Nosler brass RL15

I dont have AX50 sighted in yet because I realized the 45MOA base and the PMII 5-25 with MOA doesnt have enough adjustment to shoot anywhere close at 200 yards. We normally shoot at 200 at the club by our house and anything 500-1000 is a drive so I ordered a 28MOA Eurooptic base and will be shooting it soon.
I also realized I can't shoot 50 for shit yet because I am definitely not used to the recoi even if it is 17MOA high.
