New Contest Starting Now! This Target Haunts Me
Tell us about the one that got away, the flier that ruined your group, the zero that drifted, the shot you still see when you close your eyes. Winner will receive a free scope!
What scopeto put on a 7mm mag. It is a browning BAR safari. I would like to find a gloss 4-12x40. But would like some info on this if you all could help a member out. Thanks.
For which game? Will you be humping this rifle into the hills or mountains? Does your rifle have the BOSS system on the muzzle? Few things to consider for weight and distance you will be shooting.
If you will be in the woods and thicket, the OEM Safari has the 22" bbl, so you will need a scope with rapid access and wider field of view.
Either way I would take a look at the Leupold VX3 line, they have various magnification and in gloss. If you can find one with the CDS system that would be perfect. Quick dial elevation laser etched for your rifle and load. If you will be in deep brush, then one in a lower magnification. http://www.leupold.com/hunting-and-shooting/products/scopes/
Also aesthetics plays a role when selecting a hunting scope, especially a traditional wood and metal rifle as yours. IMHO very long scopes and short BBL's look out of place.
