Rifle Scopes Scoping a springfield

I have a beautiful Springfield rifle that National Match Armory built for me.

My question is, can I fit a scope without drilling and tapping the receiver?

I can shoot fine with a scope and now want to use the iron sights but don't know the potential of this rifle. I would like to work up an accurate load with a scope then switch to irons.

Ideas?

Ewen, I looked at the NMA 1903's a while back - looks like they do great work. Would be good to see pics and a range report.

How long did it tkae Eric to get it to you?

Well, If you start drilling and tapping and modifying the rifle, the collectability (value) drops dramatically. So, be advised.

B-Square and S&K both make no-drill/tap scope mounts for the 1903 and 1903A3 receivers. See here:

and here:

I have only seen the B-Square and it is likely adequate for the purpose intended in this situation (stick with a smaller, lighter scope), but I wouldn't trust my life to one. They just aren't as solid as mounts that would require drilling/tapping of the receiver, but they do offer you an option that won't require you to tear up a beautiful '03 receiver.
