im in the process of working up a load for a bolt action 223 with 75 grain amaxes. I've done an OCW to find a powder weight/node with the bullet 0.005" into the lands. Now I want to look at different seating depths to try to improve accuracy. What says the Hide for how much I should vary the depth with each group and how many groups should I fire?

well ooops. I just loaded up a seating depth test but I did .005 increments. I guess well see how it goes.

I'm loading for a 6.5 creedmoor and using 140 eld's. I found a node at 41.9 that was completely horizontal and almost flat. I'm adjusting the seating depth now to see what I can do with it.

I did .005 from lands all the way to .035 out for my first test. This is utilizing Hornady brass as well. I figure I will play with it and get my technique down to perfect the OCW and seating depth test before I start utilizing my Lapua brass that will arrive in the morning.

OP I see your from Gainesville. You ever get down to Wichita Falls? We should meet up and shoot sometimes.

.003 -.005 increments. If you started in the lands (as I do as well) you have to realize that when you back off to .030 you will be dropping pressure and losing velocity. So, If it seems to shoot best at say .005-.010 off, you would then load them .007 off and play with powder charge in .1gr increments above and below what you found to be the center of a node when you first powder charge tested.
