I have a TL2 in 223 and am contemplating selling it to get a SRS A1 due to the clearance pricing going on.

I see that DT is supporting the A1 for the next 5 years but does anyone have thoughts as to what could go wrong after that to where I'd be SOL if I bought it?

I've only gotten behind the SRS once but wasn't able to shoot it.

Any input would be appreciated. I do have an AIAT as well but would like to be able to shoot 223 and 338LM with the SRS A1.

The quickest wearing parts are backwards compatible from the A2 (bolt, barrel) so there isn't much to worry about. Trigger components are the only real concern, but as long as you avoid the trigger mods it's a small concern. After all how often do you wear out a trigger?

Since you haven't shot one aside from the bolt throw that is back against your shoulder just be aware the bolt throw is going to feel awfully rough on a new chassis compared to a TL2 or AT. It takes quite a few rounds for it to smooth out.

As already stated, the trigger is the only point of concern and the only if you try modifying it. The A2 has some cool changes, primarily the hand guard but overall, I don’t really care for it. I shoot 243-338 in my A1 and really wouldn’t want the A2 when shooting the 338 Lapua, it’s already on the light side even with a 29” fluted heavy Palma barrel.

Mainly just prone target shooting out to say 300yds in 223 and 1200-1400yds with 300NM or 338LM. on occasion. I'd shoot further though though if given the chance.

If I liked it enough that I didn't think I'd miss my AT I'd sell the AT and get a 308 conversion for the SRS too.

Yeah I really don't care for the changes made to the A2 and it didn't need to be lighter for the magnum calibers that's for sure.

At $3500 for the SRS A1 in 338LM though it is really tempting especially if it would allow me to sell the AT and be happy with a single precision target rifle.

I don’t see where you would miss anything the A2 has to offer. The A1 has been my main rifle for over five years now and I have the factory 308 in 16” and custom barrels form Bechmark in 243, 264WM, 6.5 SAUM and 338 LM. The rifle is great for what you are looking for, the only place it has issues is some of the crazy barricades and weak side stages they have in PRS shoots.

Edit: One last thing, make sure you are good with a single stage trigger. The trigger on the A1 is nice but some people can’t seem to gel with a single stage and I didn’t see what you are currently shooting.

How much are you looking to get for it?
Already have one and looking to get a matching pair.
Just need to swap out your .380 head for a .478
