Semi and Bolt in 6x45 should I keep both?

For the longest time, I shot and love my 6x45 (6mm223) R&D Custom, this gun with 27 gr H335/748/BL-C2 (it didn't matter which power as long as it was one of these three) and a Sierra 70gr Match King, will yield an avg. 3200fps and an ave. of .4" 5 round groups at 100 yards.

Here is my dilema, I just bought Custom 6x45 Shilen AR Upper, I mated it to my Seekens Billet custom lower with the Chip McCormick match trigger. I mounted a Nightforce NXS 5.5-22 for Optics. As instructed, I loaded 26 gr of H-335 with the same 70 SMK, went to the range, zero in and proceeded to produced 5 round clover leafs avg .45" (best was .388"), shot about 80-100 rounds.

I thought well, guess I do not need the bolt gun so I put it up for sale as the Semi is doing pretty good (though I loose probably 50-100 fps due to less powder). Then I thought, well the Bolt has a better trigger and possibly more accurate by a small margin (this is due to me being able to get the bullet right on the lands of the barrel). A usual outing with my Bolt gun, I would take my shots slowly, usually rarely shooting more than 40 rounds, with the Semi 80-100 rounds did not take much at all to go through....

Bottom line, I like both and putting one up for sale was for the strangest of reasons... my safe is full and I have no more room for another....

Thanks for hearing me vent, after writing this post, I realized I'm probably making a big mistake and should just keep it... all of those fond memories with my first Custom bolt gun....

Re: Semi and Bolt in 6x45 should I keep both?

I could make it into a 6x47 but these ballistics between the two caliber are so close, I do not think it is worth the associated cost, plus I have to find 222 or 204 brass to make a 6x47, the 6x45 uses 223 brass which is plentiful and cheap. The twist on the barrel stays the same, so I'm limited to 70gr bullet.

There's your problem right there- you need to buy another safe. Never sell a gun you like, even just a little bit.
