A Polish non-profit is tracking storks... and fitted one with a GPS collar. That they tracked to Sudan, where some click-talker probably ate the bird, took the SIM card and used it to run up a huge phone bill, talking to cousin Baboo in Nigeria.

Leaving the penniless Polaks pressed to pay phone Pholks a zillion Zlotys.

Can't make this stuff up... Gotta love stupid!

Seems like the researchers need to think about getting a custom locked sim that only works with their GPS collar and only sends limited text data, or get a pre-paid sim that will shut off when someone tries to use it for a bunch of stuff.
