I don't want to get into a question of if or should the government send out checks to everyone. (I think its a bad idea myself) It seems the government is hell bent on doing it.

But, assuming that everyone gets $1000 check (since thats the most common amount quoted) does anyone know if that could come back to bite us in the ass on our taxes next April for example? I have no kids and taxes a generally straight forward. My initial thought is to drop these into savings unless absolutely needed until tax season next year.

Or buy more ammo with it.

I like the extra ammo idea but I am thinking of a little m1 with my name all over it lol then more ammo.

My wife said there was a cap at $65K, so we won’t get shit. It‘s not like people making over $65K don’t have bills too, and probably more bills since we have larger mortgages and nicer cars. Maybe the upper middle class needs larger checks! Yeah, that probably wouldn’t go over well.

I’m sure it’ll be taxed as income for those of us who actually pay taxes.

Don’t no about you guys, but I’m gonna purchase angel soft by the cases?

I heard the $65k line as well but Ive not seem that mentioned for a day or two. My wife and I when combined are over that but not individually. I assume they will go off how a person or couple filed their taxes. Should be interesting.

You can bet that the $1000 "income" will be taxed.

You will get one of those W2A's, a 1099, or whatever that supplemental income statement is called.

If the Feds dont hit you for it the state certainly will.

Mine will be dumped into the credit card that I have hit to float some unexpected purchases, some of them necessary house contingencies, others just nice rifles I couldnt let possibly pass through my grasp.

The intent is zero credit debt when @LongRifles Inc. finishes up my pending build and that bill comes due.

So far Pelosi has said she wouldn’t allow this to occur. Trumps admin is pushing for this but the left is holding it up, what crazy times we live in. Never thought I would see a Republican administration openly pushing for socialism.

How many different "freedom checks" did we get while Bush was president? I seem to remember that dude dropped money from helicopters as if he was Newton trying to prove the theory of gravity.

I'm not taking it,..period. If/when it comes I will burn it by the mail box. It is nothing but control money.

Eh, take the check, cash it, donate the money to someone who needs it while it still has some value. I'm not sure what the wife and I will get (if anything), but it'll probably go to one of the local food banks who have been asking for money recently.

Not on taxes probably but I lived in NOLA during Katrina. About a month in went down to a local point where they give out MREs and Hepatitus vaccines. Standing in line for some and a FEMA person comes up to me and the wife and says they want to give us each $2K for relief efforts. We had lost most our stuff and jobs so was happy to accept. They asked us some questions, filled out some form then had us sign it. Handed us a debit card and off we went.

Well about 4 years after the fact FEMA sends the wife a letter she owes them $2K plus a ridiculous amount of back interest or they are taking her to court. WTF. We had to fight them for several years. Once they realized their error and backed off- it started again with new people who wouldnt speak to the old FEMA collectors and made us start from scratch fighting them proving to them our house at the time in NOLA. That is easy enough to prove to a rational sane human but FEMA is none of those. It was painful. They started calling her at work even- constant threats, etc. We won but it was 3 years of a massive headache. Wasnt worth $2k. Interestingly they never came after me even though we lived in the same address. They are fucking morons only rivaled in incompetence by the CDC.

Can't do that as it will show I took it, if I cash it. I'd just rather give some one that needs it, the money vs taking bend over money.
Travel letters from DHS have been out for a long time now, an more are going out now everyday to the REQUIRED, there is way more to this than meets the eye,....

Dont burn it, send it to me. Ive got my eye on a nice little M1A Scout

    Go full size.

Less blast, more sight radius, really just as handy, proven by killing the enemies of the USA.

    Just bought one last month.

    Love it.

Had a full size I got from a member here but Ive always wanted a Scout. Im told, properly customized, they can be quite accurate.

I don't like it. If they do send out checks and I get one I'll probably add a little to it and get a special grade garand from the cmp. Been eyeballing them at talladega.

I doubt any of us will get one, it will go to the people who are already getting a Gov. check. The people who would use it or return it, since we all know it will have to be paid back at some point, will not get any assistance.

I am all for helping those who are laid off because of this but not the bottom feeding welfare garbage. Disability is something completely different in my opinion especially the military.

Im with most here. I don't like the thought of just throwing money at bad situations. I fear the long term effects of this on the country and the unintended consequences. That being said if we get a check it will be put to stimulating my gun safe and loading room.
will cut a check to my church as well to help with the bills.

Go middle of the road, 18.5”. Love mine, just as accurate as the USGI I’ve fired, but not as good as the NM/M21 or double recoil lugged ones.

As for the check. I’ll stick it in the same account the rest of my government aid checks go into.

You know .gov does not like people who think out of the box, don't you?

Or for that matter people that remember history.

I seem to remember the Bush "stimulus" checks that were sent out and then come tax time, there it was on the form... did you already get your $300 if so well...... congratulations on being a taxpayer, you get to help "balance" the books again....

Luckily, I've never been in a position to have gotten anything like these checks in the past. Whether natural disaster or economy. So I have no point of reference. But my wife did just get sent home as her office shut down (she is in the medical field on admin side) Right now they say she can work from home.

I hadn't thought of donating and then claiming on taxes. I like that idea. I'll probably go that route or sit on it until after next year's taxes are filed.

I saw on Fox News that any checks may very by income level rather than a set amount across the board. Who knows where this will land.

What is one to do when the .gov shuts the business down where they work, a restaurant for example, and then a shelter in place order goes into effect for 30 days, they've quoted 8 weeks around here, and then has no income to pay for rent, insurance car or health, food, medicine, incidentals, etc? Does this individual get evicted and their car repossessed? Or just get a bunch of 30+ days late reported on their credit while they try and "catch up" for two to three months of unemployment? Many very solid business' can't withstand one or two weeks let alone months with a complete unplanned shut down. Yet, those landlords still get their rent. Unaffected. Until their tenants go bankrupt. What about the thousands if not millions of bankruptcies that follow?

What's the answer here? Please share because I need to know.

Already, Chevy is offering 84 months at 0%. Ford offering 72 at 0%.

If you worked for all your money last year, you won't be getting a check.

I'm sorry, was that not the question.
This will end up being an albatross Manmunchin hangs around Trump's neck.

I don't doubt for a second that people will need help and that some cand definitely benefit from checks. But using me as an example, I'm essential LEO. I will work as long as Im physically able. They cautioned us about the possibility of mandatory 12 hour shifts with no days off if things get bad. A check hopefully won't be needed at my house.

I see it as welfare was intended. Some people need help but it shouldn't be a long term solution.

Once the crisis is over your taxes will jump by 1k for a month so they recoup the loss. Gotta bail out all the large industries that have been careless with their spending.

Know what this is ? .
It a visual aid to represent how fast your Government speedily comes to agreement and eagerly works together to completely Torpedo, and destroy the United States economy . Print up another Trillion or Two of Debt and Dependency . All to save you, from the Flu .

If they're determined to spend money they don't have then I'd rather see it go to creating an additional Unemployment Insurance fund to help people actually out of work directly due to this virus. For me, there is no real impact. My wife and I both work from home so no big changes and an extra $1000 is just an unnecessary addition to the already astronomical national debt. Give it to someone who actually needs it....

Here is some info on what was done in 2008

looks like $75k was the magic number then, not sure what it would be today (but should not be less, the $65k number just sounds wrong)

I understand the idea behind giving out money even though I do not agree with it. I will happy spend it and buy shit as soon as I get it. If I can, I will identify harder hit local business that needs it

She wants money in the bill to kill more babies.

If I get a grand from the Gumbment it's going into the S&P 500 ASAP! Got to get that money working!

I was reading an article that said "millionaires wont get anything" and later in the article it said "people who made over $99,999" wouldnt be getting a check... Im not good at math here, but 99,999 does not equal 1,000,000....

Looks like im not getting shit.

    Fuckers...

Make up to $65,000 per year and get the full check. $65.001 to $95,000 and get a reduced check. $95,001 and get nothing.

I pay a shit ton of taxes every year but yet I will get no check if this passes. I am tired of paying and paying and seeing my tax money go towards illegals, foreign aid, bailouts, and welfare. Makes me fucking sick.
