Rifle Scopes Setting Zero on my PMII with MTC and Locking Turrets? Ahhh...

Think I'm confusing the hell out of myself (may just have shelter in place fever!!), but what am I missing here. Followed the manual, but it doesn't seem like it's working like it should on my S&B PMII 5-25.

First off, I get full rotation of 26+ Mils. What I don't get is a 'zero'...

Let's assume my zero is at 3 Mils elevation...

- I lock the elevation turret to access to the two set screws
- I unscrew the two set screws just enough so I can unlock the locking turret
- I rotate the turret to '0'
- I lock the turret again
- I secure the two set screws finger tight

At this point I should have 3 Mils below my zero and 23+ Mils above my zero. Correct?

What's happening is nothing, I get the same 26+ Mils above '0' and 3-4 clicks below zero once I retighten the two set screws.

It seems like when I loosen the two set screws, whatever mechanically is supposed to disengage is not happening and loosening the two set screws is not doing anything. One other other that is odd, is if I loosen the set screws and I raise the elevation passed 13 Mils, the middle indicator button pops up... I would think it wouldn't if it was disengaged... or maybe not...

- I checked out YouTube and watched the euro optic video on setting zero, that's exactly what I'm doing.

- I downloaded the manual again lol... same shit!

The procedure is correct. I don’t think the turret rotates indefinitely until the scope runs out of total elevation, but rather within its field of possible adjustment. 26mil U and .5mil down unless otherwise limited.

You can easily verify that the turret is free by leaving the rifle in a solid position and looking to see whether the reticle movers when the turret is rotated. It doesn’t take much backing off of the turret screws to afford free rotation.

It sounds like your scope is working properly. If you reset to zero after dialing 3 mils up, you will not be able to dial 3 mils down from zero. It's the "zero stop" on your scope and it sounds like it's working properly.

My Minox and Steiners are the same. Most high end euro scopes are similar in this regard.

you guys are right... it's different way of thinking with a 'zero stop' as opposed to setting a 'zero' if that makes sense on my previous scopes...
