Just bought my first NF NXS 5.5-22x56 and had a few questions on setting the zero. I did not get the "zerostop" feature. I know that the turrets can be re-set to "0" and there are horizontal marks below the turret housing to show where I am on my revolutions. Since I don't have the zerostop, there is the chance that my scope might get "knocked" off it's zero and I want to make sure I know where my zero is so that I can dial it back left or right if something should happen. I've read in the manual that the turret and revolution indicator mark cannot both be set to zero...that's what I was hoping for but apparently not going to happen. I have not sighted my rifle in yet. Can somebody please help me out and give any advice or recommendation on where my turrets should be when I first go to sight my rifle? Does it matter what horizontal mark my turret is set at when I shoot my first group to sight in my zero? Feel free to explain how this works becaues I am new to this. And, it may all be personal preference but just want to make sure I'm doing everything correctly. Thanks.

It does not matter where the turrets are set for either windage or elevation. Once you sight in your rifle then you loosen the set screws on the turrets and place the markings to zero. The horizontal markings do not matter other than they indicate how much adjutment the scope can make in either direction. If you use forward canted base or rings then you will be able to fully utilize the scopes range of travel when dialing for drop at distance.

This is an honest question so don't take it as a dig or anything. Have you ever sighted in a scope to a rifle before?

ETA: I just did some searching on Youtube, here is a video that will maybe help. Just disregard the zerostop setting as it's not applicable for your scope.
