I have a gentleman who wants to trade me a thermal for my item. His thermal was bought new in 2010 and he states there’s about 50 hours of use on it. He has a couple hundred positive feedbacks so I think it’s safe to believe him.

My question, how long does a thermal last?

The thermal in question; Insight MTM PAS 23 thermal scanner/monocular

I’d be trading my NXS 3.5-15 mil dot scope for it.

In terms of hours of use, you’ll literally go blind in your right eye before you over use it. In terms of sensors, they theoretically deteriorate over time, but you won’t experience that either.

The PAS 23 is less protected than some from damage (from looking at extreme heat sources like the sun). This means you need to treat it a little bit like night vision and avoid extreme exposure.

So as long as it’s not abused by him or you, you should be very much good to go.

It appears to be in excellent condition.

So, should a thermal not be used when it’s hot ish outside? Or do you mean just not in the daytime?
