I'm going to be shipping a rifle soon and I was wondering how much people usually pay to ship them.

Everything that ive found is that it will cost about
$55-65. is this too much?

I have $2100 worth of insurance (usps) and $2100 declared value. with adult signature required. and that is shipping in my pelican case.

How much does it normally cost to ship a rifle for you?

Re: Shipping a rifle

That is about right now. The case weighs as much as the rifle, so there is most of the reason for the expense. Before you insure it, be CERTAIN that it is sufficient to pay for the replacement cost of the rifle, all work done on it, and for the case. JMHO

Re: Shipping a rifle

usps was $10.35 for 800 bucks worth of insurance plus 26 bucks for postage. i shipped an old winchester shotgun that weighed about 11-12 pounds all packed up. hope this helps for a reference point.

You are right. USPS is almost obserred for what they want to ship a package as compared to UPS or Fedex. I shipped my rifle to PCR a month back using UPS roughly 36 lbs 52 x 14 x 7" insured for $3000.00 and it came in somewhere around $54.00, thats with adault sig. required. USPS wanted damn near $110.00.

Re: Shipping a rifle

Just shipped a GAP Crusader about a week ago for a re-barrel via FedEx. Total package weight was ~21 lbs and value was listed at $4500. Total cost for 3-day shipment (San Diego to N. Kansas City) was $58 and change.

I sent a rifle one time that I sold a Knights SR25 in a hard case insured and it was like $75 that really shocked me but I figure better safe than sorry $75 to protect and insure $3k isnt too bad.
