Is anyone familiar with the SHOOTER Phone application? How accurate is it? Has anyone used it? I'd like some information on it if anyone has any? (although pen and paper is better I know)

Re: Shooter Phone Application

I have used it a few times out. So far it has been within 1/4moa adjustment out to 500yds. During windy days I have trouble, but i think it is because i don't know how to read wind real good yet.

The first one I'll do for you for free.

Shooter Ballistic

The program has worked great for me, although I have only taken it out to about 600. The best part for me is the auto completion of the closest atmospheric conditions. It's not as accurate as if you used the bluetooth and a Kestrel (which I don't own but have tested with a borrowed Kestrel), but it's been good enough for my hunting applications.
The supplied bullet list, complete with LOTS of G7 numbers is another huge plus.

IMO, it's the best smart phone ballistic app I've used, and that's comparing it to Ballistic FTE and KAC BulletFlight

Re: Shooter Phone Application

Shooter works very well. It's creator is a hide member who has upgraded the program several times. If you allow your phone's location services to provide atmospheric and geographic data you can get pretty close. If you enter data from a Kestrel (which I do) its pretty much dead on for drop. You still need to be able to dope the wind.

I use Shooter, a Kestrel 4500 and an FDAC for backup in the field. One of the nice features of Shooter is it allows you to compile a rifle and load library, so I've got it set up for a precision bolt gun and a .308 Monolith AR. Makes it real easy to switch from rifle to rifle (and load to load) with minimal fuss.

Best 10 bucks you'll spend if you want to shoot long.

Re: Shooter Phone Application

I have used it out to 600yards just last Tuesday. I got good chrono numbers the weekend before for my 260, ran the numbers through Shooter, dialed my come-ups, and landed my first shot at the top of the ten ring. Ended up adjusting down one tenth-mil, and everything else was on me or the wind. Very happy.

Re: Shooter Phone Application

Kind of beating a dead horse here, but yes it is a very good app. I have used it out to 1000 yds with 308 and 338LM and it is very close, usually only 0.1 mil off if anything. I have also used it for 25-06 and 7RM, and it works every time. For whatever it's worth I have found the Litz data on shooter to be not as accurate as the standard stuff FOR ME.

For those familiar with Shooter, is there anyone who understands exactly how the program deals with spin drift? It appears that when you turn spin drift on it takes spin drift out of the wind calculation and when you turn it off it just lumps the two together. Any body out there that knows?
