6.5 Creedmoor, I sold it but still have 100 rounds handloaded with 42.4 H-4350, 140 ELDM I shot in it.

My question is, I just got a new rifle, 6.5 Creedmoor, the rounds chamber "a little" tight. Is it okay, safe, to shoot them in the new rifle?

I really dread pulling 100 bullets, dumping powder and resizing cases again. I will probably throw them away if not.

Generally not a good idea. Can result in a stuck case or worse. I borrowed one round of ammo from a friend since I was in a pinch at a match. Same load and base to ogive, but chamber dimensions were different diameters so it fired fine but the brass stuck hard and wouldn't extract. Cost me a podium finish.

Generally it's not a good idea, but not necessarily a dangerous thing, if you know how to measure the new rifle's chamber dimensions.

If the bullet is not getting jammed into the lands, and the headspace is a slight "crush" on bolt close, that's not a big deal. Your load is not near the upper limit, so it should (all else being equal) be okay. I had the same issue when swapping barrels on my AI. The newer Win Tac barrels are a slightly tighter headspace than the first run barrels (post 2014). The ammo shot fine, but with the slight crush on bolt close, not something I'd want to run in a comp, where you want things to cycle smoothly.

As mentioned; not always going to work or the safest thing......BUT

If you were resizing back to Sami specs, below book max and the bullet wasn’t jamming than you could be fine.
I sold my RPR and used the those same loads on my DTA and they shot absolutley perfect. Even settled on the same 42.2gr of H4350 for the 140gr eld but seated bullets 0.010” deeper after performing a complete OCW test in the DTA.
I have found my 223 loads to be very interchangeable as well.

I’d shoot a box of factory ammo, and measure the shoulder/headspace and compare it to your reloads. It you have enough set back, I’d then chamber a reload and extract it and take a very good hard look at the bullet to see if it’s contacting the lands. Like jugger said, I’d feel even better if I was FL sizing previously.

At 42.4 of H4350 you’re over max (according to Hornady) so you need to be careful and do a little work up front.

Thanks guys, I called the guy I sold the rifle I made these rounds for (my Avater picture). Im giving them to him on his next trip to my area.

I'll start over with my new CORE. I will back off a bit when I start developing loads for new gun.

Hornady is notorious for extremely conservative data for the 6.5Creedmoor. To the point of it being almost useless data IMHO.
