how do you guys like to setup for load development? Just trying to figure out how to take me out of the equation and get an idea for what other people do.

I started out in the prone position shouldering the rifle as i normally would, then I moved to prone free recoil and now I have settled on free recoiling from a bench with the trigger turned way down. It would great to use a shooting vise where I know for sure I didn't mess anything up.

Re: shooting setup for load development

I do load development on the bench such that I can almost let go of the rifle and it wil retain its current POA. This takes me out of the equation. With me out of the equation, I can tune the ammo to the gun.

Then if i want to measure me, I offhand the M40, and get some terrible groups and a few ok-ish groups.
